Croatia, the sharp increase in exports after EU Accession


Exports in strong growth in Croatia in the first seven months of this year, an increase of 12.1%. This was reported by the Croatian Institute of Statistics (DZS).

According to experts, this is the first positive effect on the country's accession to the European Union, in July 2013, and the full opening of the EU market for Croatian products. The most significant growth, as much as 15%, relates only to EU countries, destination of 81% of Croatian export. The sectors that have seen the greatest growth are the production of electricity, wood and wood products, and food processing. It grew by 5.3% the value of imports. Although better than in the past, the coverage of imports with exports remains far below the European average, just 59%.
